An Original Travel Blog Series

What's the saying? "Time flies when you're having fun?"
Well, fun was indeed had and new connections (dare I say, even friendships?) were forged during my two weeks in Paris/ Cannes with the NYU Global Field initiative.
As mentioned in my inaugural post, the goal of this blog was to get a bit more personal. By that, I mean connecting with industry leaders and peers as humans - not just a means to an end or job.
So yes, while "rubbing elbows" with the most powerful players in communications, marketing and advertising was truly unforgettable, so too was my experience connecting a bit deeper with my fellow classmates and the esteemed NYU faculty.
I can recall the lively group dinners, adventurous cab rides (I mean, truly, some of the Parisian drivers could give professional stuntmen a run for their money), and intimate conversations in between networking events. With each of these interactions, I learned more about what drives my peers, both professionally and personally. Some were passionate about changing the landscape of video game development. Others in making a career pivot in areas of marketing that would create positive social impact. Whatever the reason, my peers and I were all connected by a deep desire to do good in the communications, marketing and advertising space.
A key part of a successful Global Field Intensive is to not only make up-down connections (meaning, folks in the position to hire you), but lateral ones as well. By that, I mean, truly getting to know your peers and others who may not be able to give you a lofty position but can still support you on your professional journey. As I continue to pursue my own career ambitions, I know that the support and respect of your peers is a reward in and of itself.
So with this is mind, I'd like to give a special thank you to the amazing folks I've had the opportunity to connect with on this wild ride, especially my NYU Paris/ Cannes GFI family.
Until next time. Au revoir!
