Let's be honest, applying for NYU SPS's Global Field Intensive program in France was daunting. Essays, CVs, the whole nine yards. It felt like a bureaucratic labyrinth, and for a hot minute, I almost chickened out. "Too much work," I whined to myself. But let me tell you, future applicants – that inner voice was dead wrong. This program turned out to be the most transformative experience of my academic journey, hands down.
Why? It wasn't just about textbooks and lectures (though those were top-notch too, thanks Professor Bujisic!). This program was about diving headfirst into the professional world – European edition. We weren't passive observers; we were active participants, getting our hands dirty (metaphorically, of course) and learning how various industries tick in a global context.
But the real magic happened beyond the classroom walls. We connected with key players from different brands, building friendships and a network that extends far beyond the borders of France. Elisabeth Mitchell, our program coordinator, deserves a standing ovation for her meticulous planning and thoughtful attention to detail. She made sure every aspect of the experience ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on soaking up knowledge and forging connections.
Let's not forget the amazing people I shared this adventure with – my fellow GFI France 2024 cohort. You guys rock! We pushed each other, supported each other, and created memories that'll last a lifetime. Together, we navigated the Parisian streets, tackled professional challenges, and most importantly, had a blast doing it.
So, to anyone on the fence about applying for this program: Don't hesitate. Take the leap. It might seem like a bureaucratic maze at first, but trust me, on the other side is a professional and personal growth opportunity you won't regret. You'll gain valuable experience, build an incredible network, and forge lifelong friendships – all while exploring the vibrant streets of Paris. Now that's what I call a win-win.
Cheers to the future, GFI France 2024! May our paths continue to cross and our careers flourish.
