My Favorite Shortlisted Work in Digital Craft Track

It’s the second day of the Cannes Lions festival, these two days I listened to many sessions regarding creativity and AI, and I learned a lot from these sessions. Last night, in the award show, the festival announced Grand Prix and Gold Award for Pharma Lions, Health & Wellness Lions, Print & Publishing Lions, Outdoor Lions, and Radio & Audio Lions. It’s such a pleasure to watch all these great works and learn ideas from talented people. In tonight’s award show, the Digital Craft track award will be announced. My teammates and I worked on this track’s presentation last week, we analyzed 2022 winners’ works, so I’m more interested in this year's winner. Before the winner is announced, I would like to pick my favorite one from the shortlisted works and explain my thoughts on it.

My favorite work is Climate Realism, which is developed by WWF Germany, a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting endangered wildlife. We all know that we are facing the danger of climate change, but people don’t have a clear image of the effects of climate change. The Climate Realism is an exhibition to show people these effects. It uses some famous paintings by Monet, Gauguin, and Van Gogh, with the usage of climate data and generative AI. People can see the changes in these paintings if the global temperature rises 4 degrees Celsius. The trees are burnt, and the grasslands turn to desert… With the Climate Realism, people can see the real effects of global warming, which reminds us to protect our planet, that is the purpose of WWF. I like this work because it can use technology to help the organization to better achieve their goals, and do good to the society.
