Paris – A City Full of Arts

Xuke Chen

In the past 5 days, I immersed myself in the city of Paris, which is also known as City of Light, City of Love, Capital of Fashion… All these are beautiful names, but from my own experience in Paris, I would like to call it a city full of arts. Art is in every corner of the city, and in the characteristic of its people. As an integrated marketing student who saw different billboards and advertisements in Paris these days, I can always find artistic genes implanted in them.

Fine Art

On the day I arrived in Paris, I went straight to the Louvre Museum, where millions of masterpieces are being exhibited. That is definitely an enjoyable experience. Besides the Louvre, there are many museums and galleries in Paris. Those artworks give the idea of many advertisements in Paris. I randomly selected two photo shots at metro and RER stations, both ads use high-contrast colors to catch people’s eyes – in an artistic way.

Architecture Art

One of the reasons I was fascinated by New York City and Paris is architecture. However, NYC and Paris express architectural art in totally opposite ways. New York is like a concrete jungle, thousands of skyscrapers with different designs make the city’s skyline higher and wider. Paris, on the contrary, has no high-rise buildings in the city center, but limestone buildings everywhere. Most Parisian buildings were built hundreds of years ago, and lower than 30 meters, which is an expression of history and beauty. But there is an exception, and also the most iconic one – the Eiffel Tower, which makes the city so unique.

So many memorable things happened in Paris with new friends from the class. Looking forward to exploring more of the city this week.
