On the 4th day of the program, we visited Havas and Compagnies, a marketing agency. We learned a lot about the company, especially how a marketing company operates. Lastly, they showed us campaigns they had created. The one that stood out to me the most was a campaign created to raise money for Ukraine. The interesting part was that they used Fortnite, a video game, to raise money through the players. To me, it was a unique idea. I was amazed. The creators also mentioned how players from all around the world participated in this event.
The 5th day was a visit to the European Digital Group (EDG), another marketing company that specializes in acquiring small companies. We got a full glimpse of how local marketing works and what goes on behind them acquiring a company.
The 6th day in Paris turned out to be the most exciting and interesting visit and the best activity of the whole program. We visited Firmenich, the company that makes perfumes for well-known brands like Dior and Chanel. It was a unique experience. We had the opportunity to create our scent. We submitted a brief with our idea a month before the start of the program, and based on that, the company made two prototypes of perfume. Seeing something we created with the company gave me a glimpse of how perfumes are made. Through the assignment, we got to evaluate the market, customers, and current trends.
Throughout the visits to the three companies, I realized that customers are different globally but also similar at the same time. Due to different cultures, we may be different, but our basic needs are similar. The campaign Havas created, as I mentioned before, also worked because we are all similar around the world. The market and even the trends are similar, while the countries do have their trends as well.
